Honestly the whole pointing lab thing is kind of a Joke to me it seems as though the lab community is all ways trying to find something to make them more rare and desirable than other quality well bred dogs, I have seen at least 4 "silver" lab puppys since I've been at my new Job most of then looked...

I have a carded( pigeon with cardboard tied to its foot) bird in a launcher bring the dog in up wind so it can't smell it launch the bird let him chase and just as the dog is about to grab the bird fire a blank gun then move to a .410 then 20 ga then 12 ga, this won't effect there pointing or stead...

Can't speak for his dogs but mine point them when we are out bird hunting mostly, I don't go out just for rabbits but often flush them out when hunting in the thicker cover around wooded edges.
