Re: Help with GSP blood lines
Yeah, thanks Cj. Snip'sTicked Off frozen semen is still available what shocked me was only frozen semen on Gamble's Rip-N-Logan, a direct son. I remember when he was young and it doesn't seem very long ago. Crystal Kennels did a AI breeding with Snip'sTicked Off a year or two ago. What were the trai...

Cj, Really appreciate you sharing a little. It's hard for many of us to get much info like that. I think Rusty had a fair amount of Moesgaard.
Hillhaven's Hustler had Axel Von Wasserschling several time, Erick Von Enzstrand which is part Wildburg, and a bunch that I don't know.
Sometime I need to learn more of the old lines

Re: Help with GSP blood lines
The FT people have always done a fair amount of outcrossing. Several of the Rusty offspring that you see on a lot of pedigrees were outcrosses. I'm sure no expert I just look at a lot of pedigrees trying to learn and I sure don't see anything tight anymore. With Rusty being no close than the 5th gen...

Jacob VD Westwind, and Odyssey's Sam Saint Max. Anything you could tell us about those two would be great. You could just give us the positive side so people don't get affended.

With Rusty being back 35 years now. That puts him several generations back. I don't know of anyone that has been able to stay tight on line breeding Rusty. When you look at pedigrees even the breeders that started their lines with Rusty blood are pretty dituted by now.

+1 on what Ray G. Said The collar has allowed far more humane and effective methods of training to be created and used. The old ways often crossed the line in my eyes. Even my knot head sees me grab the alpha bag and she goes crazy because she knows she is going to go do what she truly loves to do. ...

They may not be ideal for training. But are great for hunting. I use the tone to bend my dog or recall them. Makes for a quiet day hunting. I haven't done it but I think a person can set up a custom screen and use the three mechanical buttons and set them up for 3 different intensities for training....

In some lines some of those traits may not be fallacies.
I've got a white gsp that also has a couple of those traits.
It's almost like she has some all white pointer blood.
She isnt an easy one but she is a bird finding machine.

They aren't a problem until they are a problem. Then you have a problem that could have been easily avoided. Not so easily avoided if you get the pup at 7-12 weeks of age and it has the dewclaws still on. From my perspective, there are things about a prospective puppy that are much more important t...

You certainly don't have to feed a 30/20 dogfood to have dogs in good shape. I know you hear 30/20 here all the time. There are a lot of dogs that don't like the real concentrated foods and don't do that great on them. I know I don't feed 30/20. My last pup (avitar) was raised on a 30/18 puppy food ...

A 75 mile drive to train isn't unreasonable. And a good solution. Might want to consider picking a training program and sticking to it. With a pup I just take a bag of 4 or 5 birds show each one to them and let them fly one at a time. After a couple you have a pretty excited pup.

He read on it. Talked to the vet, who suggested leaving it at that point. He decided not to have it shortened. We all got use to it.

Definitely not in the best interest of the dogs letting them out with a lot of car traffic around. Glad things worked out in the end.

I've always thought about getting a FT washout. Don't need the range of an AA dog. I always figured a person could get a lot of bang for the buck.
