When asked, go out laterally or behind and locate the dog, come back to gallery/handler and report. There may be certain circumstances when a judge will ask the scout to handle the dog. The best scout is the scout that is never seen or heard

...Isn't the dog in season moved to the last brace and run either as a bye or braced with another female? Not if the dog is drawn NOT in season and THEN comes into season during the trial. FWIW, both dogs in the last brace were picked up and now we r just awaiting announcement...Boss, Bo, or Queste...

I think that you are helping both judges and the other handlers if you pick up. If your not winning anything and you pick up,the judge can then watch the other dog which may be in contention. Spending a weekend at a field trial would be tough. My wife wouldn't go. I go to a few local ones and watch. I don't get the sense of the old boys network. Everyone there is pretty helpful and friendly. I would love to have acres of land and kennels with multiple dogs and horses. My job in the city...

We try to take advantage of every day that has sun shining even if it is cold. We run them at hunt clubs or at the trainers course in the snow to build up endurance and muscle. I can not afford to send them away for both summer and winter so we do what we can and the workout in the snow is very bene...

A setter I got (as a started dog) had the WORST tarter buildup/teeth stains the vet had ever seen - especially for a young dog. A friend of mine suggested giving him a large "Cow Knuckle" bone to chew on. You can find them at Tractor Supply, Fleet Farm, Meat lockers, etc. One week of chewing on that...

I like this thread and the other one duck started on Upland. I hope to buy some property and build indoor/outdoor runs. My kennels will all be made by TK Products.
