Re: I am very disheartened about hounds in America today.
You are not looking in the right places. There are many Treeing Walker pups for sale. Get "Full cry" magazine or "Coonhound Bloodlines" or "American Cooner" magazines. Lots of hounds in Idaho. Most hunting hounds are registered with U.K.C. (United Kennel Club).

Valley quail are smaller with a top knot, mountain quail will be found larger with a long top knot, some have a short top knot with a longer one. Mt. quail will be found at higher elevations.

My dogs (GSP) do really good on Purinas Salmon & Rice, they look good, real shiny coates, feed less and of course very little to clean up.

I think your dog has "ear fisures" Every time he shakes his head it irritates the edge of the ear. The more it shakes the worst it gets. Take him to the vet for a conformation of this. The vet can give you a solution that will help. Had a friend back in the day that cauterized the edges with a hot n...

For anyone that is really interested in the GSP bloodlines you should get ahold of "The New Complete German Shorthaired Pointer" by Robert H. McKowen.
You should be able to get it from your book store or on Amazon. Sure will answer any questions about you have.

It can happen but it's rare. It seems one of the questions about animals that develop the tumors, is whether they are individuals who are more prone to cancer in the first place. An article from the AVMA...more pertinent info towards the bottom. https://www.avma.org/KB/Resources/Reference/Pages/Mic...

Have anyone here heard of any problems with microchips in your dogs? I was just told by a friend of mine that his GSP developed a tumor at the site of the chip, had to remove chip and the tumor that was in between her shoulders where chips are normally injected. Says it was pretty nasty.

Elk numbers down is a delusion? That's the answer I would expect from Fish & Game, Forestry. Come and check out the Clearwater region for yourself. A herd of 10,000 elk now numbers 1000 according to F&G stats. My goodness you now have to stand in line to get an elk tag whereas not too many years ago...

The wolves are attracted to hounds because when they tree a bear they bark until their owners can get to them, the wolves are very territorial and will chase out the dogs or kil...

In Idaho a guide has to work for a outfitter. You have to pass a Red Cross first aid class. The outfitter does all the paper work, Ins. etc. Then you are given a guides license.
