I dont know much about breeding dogs but do read quite a bit. I have read that it is quite common to get very small litters from frozen semen. I dont remember the reasoning behind it or if there was one just remember reading it. IMHO if this is the case it almost doesnt make it worth while.

You dont need to teach whoa you need to teach sit-to-flush.

Bird goes up dogs butt hits the ground and dog waits for your command to be released.

Your local retriever club would be somewhere to look to learn how to do this.
