Re: A question for breeders about false pregnancy?
I think you'll have to call the vet for details but if you are traveling and time is an issue you might have the vet run progesterone tests on her. I do not believe false pregnancies usually alter the anestrus time but my only experience with it was decades ago.

Well I found out the lab litter is aired by a male who is an EIC carrier and mom has not been tested. Nor have her parents or grandparents. so seems ki da risky. Think I'll pass on that.

I can offer this...but I would have to dig out some boxes to get the references. Back in late 90's, Redwolves in captivity had mandated feeding requirements under the SSP. Dry kibble (with nutritional analysis requirements I forget but the one we fed was 27 protein 18 fat - mineral content required ...

I'm going to go ahead and get a Bayer flea collar and use the dawn and vinager spray at the same time. In my opinion you will be wasting your time. Dogs with allergies react after even one bite. $1000 is not uncommon for NAVHDA sires. and puppies.
I HAVE heard of Horizon kennels, and the lines the dogs come from. I do not think badgering the OP about breeding practices is helping. They asked a question and have had many opinions. Their decision to make.

Have you spoken with the Bitch owner about the situation in person or via phone? It may be that talking with them about why and how they handled it will ease your mind. Or the reverse. I had a dog that took the scratching at the door to a new level when ignored. He would SLAM his body into the door. you see markj, that is the thing in that it did work - and it didn't make each and every dog gunshy. I recently had a bitch in heat here but kenneled of course (GSP) and my lab male was let out into the main fenced yard by the kids. No big deal. It IS easy to gunshy a bird dog!!! Happens WAY MORE than you may realize. Swept under the rug, dog ditched on someone else as "free" dog that "I worked on some birds but can't afford to feed" or whatever is the story. I see it all the time and I could list a dozen dogs quickly and more if I thought ...

Just put out one launcher then. Only one bird, if leashing him and finishing is too much pressure.

I don't trial but I do use two whistle commands, one for recall and one for turning. But what I have been curious about is why trialers use a whistle command for the break away. It seems to me that it would be hard to hold a dog back vs. needing a command to go. I am sure there is a reason for it. ...

Does he dig in lines? or a big hole and maybe a line from it? Mine dig after moles all day. They love it. I gave up stopping them ages ago. I fill in the holes with dog poo then dirt, put cayenne pepper in areas I really really do not want them to dig and otherwise ignore it.

I veer from my gentle positive methods here. Feed a higher calorie food that you can feed less of. Give them a chance to go before the hunt. Also I expect it's getting runny by the end of the day.
