Re: National dog Show
I agree. The dogs in the sporting group should be sporting dogs. They should be hunted, trialed, tested or whatever venue you play in. The whole thing is supposed to be form follows function. That is the way I always think of it.

Thanks for that post Doc. My dog came has been having problems after working and took him to hte vet last night and she said, now I am paraphrasing, the ligaments are going bad and that he has arthritis in the knee. That explained it to me and he is now retired becasue he is a little older,10, and I...

My Male does it quite regularly. I know a few guys that their GSP's do it also. I think it is just a quirk in the breed. Nothing special or anything to worry about.

I have used EMT gel on a few minor cuts and scrapes. If it appears to be minor and you have cleaned it out well then use the gel to close it up. That has worked in the past for me.

Am I reading this correctly? Your pup is 12 weeks old? That is in my opinion way to young to switch them off of puppy food. I find that they do well on puppy food until they are about 9 months old and then I switch them. I may be way out to left field but I think 12 weeks is way too young.

I was lurking over at The Field Trialer and read that lightning struck Randy Downs kennels last night. It burned to the ground. Many of the dogs have been killed. I think you should get hims checked by the vet to make sure there aren't any worms or something else in his gut keeping him from eating. Once that is clear I would change his food. He may just not like it. I have a pup that was barely eating Eukenuba which is what the breeder was feeding. I switched...

I think it is a good thing that you are reserching breeding your dog. I would start with what are the goals in breeding your dog. Are you concerned with just the color or conformation in total? Are you looking at the field performance of your dog and like it and want to improve onit? There are some ...

I know I am coming in late on this but I think they should be removed in order to avoid the potential of an injury to them. I look at it as preventive medicine. Re: Gun Shy Conditioning CD's
I was using the Masters voice CD's for a young setter that I had. They seemed to be helping but I am not sure if they would be a cure. Using on a young dog to condition I think it wouldn't be a bad thing. I would just ensure that the gun introduction is done slow and deliberate. It is better to go s...

It seems to me that the switch to the Native was done over a period of time. So that rules that out from what I see. FIrst off this is not a dig on Eukanuba or a promotion for any other brand. I have a Rottweiler that when we picked her up from the breeder she was on Eukenuba. I would also treat dove as any other ""bleep"" bird. They, I think would turn a young pointing dog into a running wild machine. The 140 acres that has a few small coveys is a better plan. I wouldn't waste my time buying pen raised birds to try and establish a breeding population. It is a waste of mo...
