Dogs can most assuredly reason. To what extent is dependent on the dog. I've watched several dogs REASON, how to open a door. First biting the door knob, then when encountering a handle, popping the handle with a nose. I've watched another dog look at a closed crate from outside... stare at the door...

for the record a CAR is NEVER a wise investment.. EVER. Used is USUALLY a better overall financial decision than NEW, but NOT always... evidence was my low mileage RAM 2500. I put more work in that than I did in purchasing it. Plus it got terrible gas mileage (worse even than your worst idea of bad)...

Sorry I am with Karen on this one... spend the $38 more and have Garmin guarantee it fixed right.
Unless you can find the screen for say $50, it's probably worth the $150 to have someone else deal with it.

Wow you are right, very rare to find a replacement screen. This is the only one I found, and it appears it it shipped from HK... Ok, like Karen said... we used the ASTRO 220 (handheld), and the DC-30. We trial. We've upgraded to the ASTRO 320, but kept the old collar. We'll report back what we find. but... Yes, you'll see that the dog ran the course wide, we were horseback and roughly on the horse path (except during finds). I have some more impressive tracks than that (some not so much - heheh). Keep in mind the dog is moving, and the collar is polling. The software smooths the track as straight line...

Lesson. During a field trial brace of your dog, your Astro has to be off, unless the dog is out of contention. Ray is exactly right on all 3 + 1. If you are lower bucks, then Medford is probably your best bet (shortest distance). We use them on the horse's tie-outs.. The key is to replace them if they start to bind, otherwise they become ineffective. I don't think I'd use them on dogs leads or the like. If you were to attach your rode to your saddle, I could see using them there, but we don't attach those, just easier to dro...
