Re: VIDEO, Steady to Wing, Shot, Fall
At the end, when I bring him the bird, you describe his reaction as "starts to crumple". You see his reaction as a result of trainer induced pressure to make him steady. That's a mouthful right there. So, did the dog go to a trainer to get started before you? You had the dog for 6 weeks, that makes...

Things with dogs, can be very simple, if you let them be. That could possibly go over a lot of heads. The easiest way imo, to answer the statements made....... At his/her age, traps wont be a benefit. Your timing wont be right on the bird flying. You will possibly create other boogers. Dog has to learn how to put things together, nocking will help, along with pointing and killing. Thanks Jonesy

Well, if you don't understand it, your dog wont either. Always remember that. When things are simple for you, they will also be simple for the dog. A dog doesn't understand English, but it will always read your eyes, voice, and touch, in a positive way, or negative way. You have to figure out, how i...

Daddy always said, "its not what you do, but how you do it." When you have a dog, and you put the bird in your hand, and let dog mess with, and or toss for it, and then let it get it. You have opened a door of excitement, and desire, for the dog.......you also, got the dog to want to pick up, be les...

I question, what or why, the dog doesn't want to come in or out of the box. Dogs read your eyes, voice, and touch. They don't most of our what's, and why's. People, don't understand that. You need to adjust, to help the dog. I think in the dogs mind, its all about the chase. Why do I have to point.......when I know I can chase. Would say there would be some check cord work involved, to fairly eliminate chase....for now.
