so anaconda how do you rate hunting woodcock with the hunting you had in Montana? I am sort of in the same boat as you since I moved from Cali to Texas 2 years ago. I have a minimum 5 hour drive one way to find wild quail and have to go thru the high dollar leases to hunt. No more chukar, pheasants ...

Anaconda you got my wheels spinning. I found a place less than an hour from my house in east Texas to hunt them. I will head out this friday. did you run into deer hunters? I think they hunt the same area where I will be. I dont want to be out there with them. I will call tommorrow and find out. Als...

can you tell me the basics of hunting woodcock? what does it compare to? it looks like the habitat is so thick how well do pointers work? i would think you would need a close working flusher. how far of range can you let your dog work in this kind of habitat? anyone know if east Texas has fair numbe...

gambel and blue quail hunters, do you agree with this
a dog that is steady to wing shot and fall is not the best idea on these running quail. a polished dog is going to end up spending most of his time stopped while the quail are running. so a dog that can differentiate a covey that will hold versus a covey that will run will determine if the dog rush ...

I guess it does not seem weird or wrong to me because that is the system I grew up with. I was amazed when I first went to Arkansas and hunted productive private land. I was even more amazed that there are states where you can hunt private land without permission if it is not posted. That's a good ...

i have been hunting public land up until i moved to texas 2 years ago but here is my concerns about the leases i have found. 1. most of the areas i am looking at are working cattle ranches. when i call to find out how the bird population looks this year i get the same answer. wont know until the ope...

The best thing in the world is a hands-on mentor. The West-Gibbons DVDs are very good. The Perfection Kennels Perfect Start/Perfect Finish are good. dog moves in stop to flush situation
my dog will move a few feet sometimes but I think it is cause he is trying
to keep the bird in view due to the higher cover that we will be next to.
if i think this is the case should i still correct him with the ecollar? or just if he starts an all out chase?
