I hunted with a friend of the inlaws last fall that had a shorthair lab cross. In talking about the dogs abilities (great gundog). He started telling me how he specifically set up the cross. He wasn't happy with his labs because they ran out of gas to quick but wanted the lab personality and disposi...

I wanted an female out of a litter of 4M/4F... Only 1F hadn't been spoken for. We came home with her, it was a great well balanced litter. I would have taken any of them. She is turning into a great hunting dog and family member. You'll be fine. Trust yourself. You did your homework.

I have 2 buddies that love that cross. Have looked for it when getting new dogs. One even set up the breeding... I've hunted behind their dogs and they work great. They see alot of birds though. Your choice, no matter what you'll have to spend alot of time being consistent. Good Luck.

Since you won't be needing a 3.5 go with the Benelli M2. I have the M1 and love it. I took the wife in a while back to shoulder many guns and she picked the M2. It shoulder as well as my M1. I've shot the piss out of my M1, doves, quail, phesants, turkeys and sporting clays. I love it.

I heard about the haying/grazing of CRP recently too. And as said have to wait until after nesting. They are allowing the grazing and haying to try and keep it in CRP instead farmers of taking it out and putting in crops since grain prices are so high. Sounds like a little give and take to help keep...

I agree with most of the posts here so far, if you're coming to Kansas plan on hunting Phez. Yeah you might get into a covey maybe 2 per day if you are lucky but right now quail numbers are pitiful. If you want more quail see if you can pay for a day or 2 of hunting in SE KS then move west. My opini...
