few more birds before the arctic blast
The weathermen are predicting snow and single digit temps this weekend, so I tried to get a couple of pics this afternoon while my fingers still worked. Bella is about 5 1/2 months old now and working her birds like a champ. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r155/ezmoney68/bella/IMG_3588.jpg http:/...

Is this a political statement or what? I didn't realize they had stopped. By the way Coop, thanks for the compliment on Bella. She is doing great, but with the holidays and a recent death in the family, I haven't been able to get her out as much lately as I would like. Hopefully, everything will get...

I have never personally witnessed an injury, but then again, we always removed them. I was fortunate enough to have a good friend that was a vet. She showed me how to remove them on dock the tails on our first litter when they were three days old. Been doing them myself ever since.

Re: scott kennels vs runs on concrete
We built a bunch of above ground pens similar to the Scott kennels several years ago for George Newcomb to take to summer camp. He used slats for the floor with small gaps between for the stool to fall through. They worked so well that we made another batch for our kennel. We used expanded metal tha...

Re: Docking Length Of The Tail
I agree with most of the posters here. After seeing a few dogs with tails that were too short, I'd rather err on the long side. I also have went a little long on a dark tail in order to leave a white tip. Some of these fast dogs just have a hard time with the wind blowing those ears back however!!!!...

I've fed Pro Plan Performance since 1995 when we won five bags at a trial. Whether I had a kennel full of dogs or one lab in the back yard......from the time puppies were ready to eat solid food until their last days. National Champions to a squatty basset hound. This, like most questions posed online, will receive quite a variety of answers. One common thread I notice, is consistency is of utmost importance. If you have decided on an advisor/mentor/trainer....you might ask that person what method they use. It will be important that you don't start down a di...

Re: Horse Question
A horse is quite a commitment both in time and money. A trailer to transport the animal and a truck that can pull the trailer, a place to keep the animal, feed and vet care. It is extremely easy to be taken advantage of when getting into the market for a horse and I would recommend getting a very ex...

If money and time are an issue.......just wait. Neither of those items are going to be important for a while. Exercise won't be much of an issue the first month and the cold might help in the potty training. Pup might get business taken care of quickly so that he can get back into the warm house instead of wanting to play.

I understand that man's need to compete is at the root of this debate. Some take that need to higher levels. Enjoying a hobby isn't enough for most people.
