I have never personally witnessed an injury, but then again, we always removed them. I was fortunate enough to have a good friend that was a vet. She showed me how to remove them on dock the tails on our first litter when they were three days old. Been doing them myself ever since.

I agree with most of the posters here. After seeing a few dogs with tails that were too short, I'd rather err on the long side. I also have went a little long on a dark tail in order to leave a white tip. Some of these fast dogs just have a hard time with the wind blowing those ears back however!!!!...

Forums are no different than the rest of the world......gotta take the good with the bad, but there is a ton of knowledge to be found here. Developing good techniques to gather that knowlege can be a challenge for some people.

I just wanted to post a big thanks to Mr. Favor. The pictures and humor tinted tidbits of wisdom that he posts are some of the biggest highlights of this forum. I don't know about living out there, but I sure would like to hunt the country he roams.

Exercise won't be much of an issue the first month and the cold might help in the potty training. Pup might get business taken care of quickly so that he can get back into the warm house instead of wanting to play.
