Re: my "rigged" coop and location

Luke, I'm only kidding about the deer blind comment. But I gotta admit, sitting at the edge of the treeline overlooking a meadow. The first thing I thought of was a 30-06 barrel poking out through the recall bobs. Probably scare the feathers right off your pigeons if you ever got a shot! OK, I'll qu...

I'm buying some adult homing pigeons tonight

I am getting my first pigeons tonight and I am buying some young ones and some adult breeders. The adults I am buying have never flown from the sellers loft. Will I be successful resettling the adults after two or three weeks in the new loft or should I just plan on making them prisioners? Here is s...

Re: What gun dog breed do you currently own and why?

I'm a Drahthaar fan. I have to admit that I am facinated by many of the breeds represented here but for me the DD is where it's at. I started with a DD because of the integrity of the breeding program. Within the breed all dogs must be proficient hunters as evidenced by the required testing in order...

Thanks, Markj.
I agree 100%. I'm not smart enough to know what the answer is but this whole internet porn thing is crazy. Hopefully our lawmakers will come up with something soon that will be effective at restricting this stuff.

Sigh........... I am crazy about dogs and cannot believe I'm doing this but my advice is to pass on this dog and wait a year or two. I am saying this as a father of five and a husband of 23 years. Your life is about to change in ways that you cannot imagine. Since this is your first child, I am assu...

mtlee, You said you would be apprehesive about sending your shorthair into the water in South Dakota in the middle of the winter. I live in South Dakota. Any dog that is sent into the water in the winter should be given an ice pick first! Sorry, just couldn't pass that up. Even though I felt the nee...

Well, living in South Dakota the obvious answer is the ringneck pheasant. In fact I enjoy it so darn much that it is really the only bird I hunt these days. Something about the noise created as the rooster flushes and the feel of that three pound bird in your game pouch! Dang, I wish it was October!...

Hey Jim.
Welcome aboard. I'm a DD person also. I'm curious, where is your new DD pup coming from?
You will have a lot of fun over the next two years developing a hunting dog!

I need your advice on bird launchers

Hi, I am going to buy a launcher but I need some advice before I do it. I want to start with one launcher but I will likely want to expand to two or three in the future. Here are my questions: 1. Can I buy one remote launcher and in the future add launchers that run on the same remote? 2. What brand...

I own three DD's and I love the breed. There is some truth to the aloof thing. My friends DD's don't really care about me and my DD's don't really care about him. But my dogs love me and are the furthest thing from aloof in there interaction with me. As far as do they make good pets? I have a 2 year...

I would shout out a resounding "GET A FEMALE".
Not all will agree with me but I think your chances of the two getting along increase dramatically with a male and a female as opposed to two males.
Good luck!

Rick, I really like your "3rd and final" coop. I have never kept birds before so I have a few questions for anyone willing to answer. Rick, how do the birds get back into you coop (or are you not using homers)? I know that I need a special door for the homers to get back in but my question is how do...

Try Quillin.com.
I'm not sure if they sell just the name plates but if you need a collar witha plate they make a great product.
They have rolled leather collar that I have on my dogs. They're pretty spendy but they sure are of high quality.

Hi all. My name is Tom Wilcox. I live in Sioux Falls, SD. I have been into dogs since I was 11 and my adult sister was getting rid of a dog that I had fallen in love with. I pressured my mother enough to let me bring the dog home for a trial. I slept the first night on the cold vinyl floor in the en...
