Re: KINETIC Dog Food?
There is really only one way to know if Kinetic dog food will work for you and that is to try it for a length of time. There are many good dog feeds out there and many opinionated people. This is what fuels all the different brands.

Re: First time at a NAVHDA training day...likes/dislikes
So I took my 5 month old Brittany to my nearest NAVHDA training day this past Saturday. For background, my pup has never seen a pigeon or game bird before, other than a wing on a string. He points/chases tweety birds on walks. I am also brand new to upland hunting. Things I liked: -Everyone was ver...

There are lots of ways to work on backing and honoring, those that take a lot of work really seem to not care for it at all. When I train, most of the time the basis of what I do is built off of stop to flush drills. (not always but explaining in brevity is not my strong suit) When I find a dog tha...

Re: breeding
I whelped a litter with my 7 year old GSP female a little over 3 months back. It was her first litter. She has been such a special bird dog for me until I wanted to have a pup from her. We had much trouble getting the two to tie. I ended up being forced to do an AI as a last resort. She had 5 pups a...

I had a dog very similar to this once. I just kept quiet and shot the birds that the dog pointed. I missed a lot as well but praised her up if I missed the bird.
She slowly got more and more confident on birds as she had good experiences.

Re: Outdoor Kennel
With the American Kennel units, the biggest fault I see with them is the 8 gauge wire. I like the heavier 6 gauge wire. The much more inexpensive Doc Bob units sold by Tractor Supply has 6 gauge wire but not sure how the tube frame compares. The 6 gauge welded wire adds strength to the kennel as a w...

I believe the TK Products is considered the much higher quality product. If you believe you would be happy with the American Kennel, you might consider the Doc Bob units from Tractor Supply. They may have heavier gauge wire than the AK units.

Re: Video: Fixing a Blinking Dog
I've seen dogs do this from too much pressure on birds at a young age; especially a soft dog that is not confident. Many incorrectly use the ecollar and end up with a blinking dog. The poor dog doesn't understand why he is constantly being hurt. I believe the way to get the dog over it is just as sh...

I used Sportmix for years with good results. I htought it was a very good food for the money.
The only reason I switched is because the local Tractor Supply did a poor job keeping it in stock and I finally got fed up enough to leave them.

The art of breeding exceptional litters is much more than a science IMO. Some will preach line breeding (and that does seem to be a very very reasonable approach) but if you look at the success of many of the top winning field trial professionals, their dogs are not line bred at all but select two p...

I've seen what could have been very nice gundogs ruined as young pups by improper introduction to gunfire where their owners staked them out too close while they and their friends shot skeet.

I've always been drawn the older 20 ga SXS. I had 12 and 20 gauge pumps and automatics but nothing shoots as well for me as my old SKB 280 20 ga with an English stock. I love the lightness of the gun and has always been by far the easiest gun for me to hit targets with. I know people who love their ...
