Re: Washington State Lease
Is that a per person price? How many people? How many acres? My brother has 2 young brits that hes going to be working this year. He lives near Tacoma and may be interested. Will you allow guests with the lease?

After the flush
Typical Girl.... Always posing! Im gonna have to work on her tail. Thats the only real critique the trainer had about her.

Re: what age for fully broke?
Thanks for the reply's guys. It looks like my trainer might not be blowing smoke up my $%##% after all. Im really happy with him and he has done a great job on my pup. My pup is almost 15 months old and she seems to be 99% broke. She isn't perfect, and sometimes moves a little, but not much. The tra...

what age for fully broke?
I know this is a tough question to answer, but at what age should a person expect a dog to be fully broke? I know some trainers have a 3 month course and they say they can have a dog fully broke by then, but realisticly at what age can you expect a dog to be broke? From what I understand a lot of th...

Re: Derby Question
As I understand it the trials she will be running in are wild bird trials. I believe there is 2 in Iowa/Nebraska and 1 in S. Dakota before the trainer heads home from summer camp. I can't imagine not having a wild bird FT in S. Dakota. I believe the trainer has around 30 dogs with him at camp and ma...

Re: Derby Question
Thanks for the replys guys. My pup is a Brit that was born June 2008. Everything youve said is something I have thought about in respect to other derby dogs not having a lot in the line of manners. The sire's owner has a bunch of dogs with the trainer and he said the same thing about derby trials. I...

Re: Derby Question
How much do Derby Trials say about the potential of your dog? The reason I ask is because I spoke with my trainer today and it seems my pup is doing really well at camp. She is 14 months old and he thinks I should just run her in Derby trails and skip the puppy trails. He has her running 300-400 yar...

Re: What do you look for in a pup
Ive always been told to look for independence in a pup. I don't really know if its a good thing or not, but with my 13 month old Brit it seemed to work. Im very good friends with the breeder of my pup so I got to see them from about 3 days old until we took our pup home at 8 weeks. I didn't have any...

Re: Dropped the pup off at the trainer yesterday
Ya, but I couldn't decide what pup to pick so I picked the one she liked. So now she thinks MY dog is hers! #$%^!!! I don't think I would have picked the pup t I did if it wasn't for my wife though. It wasn't my favorite, had curly hair, and was too independent! ........ However, she grew out of her...

Re: Dropped the pup off at the trainer yesterday
I dropped my pup off in May. My wife says shes going to go steal her back everyday. Thank god my pups in S. Dakota. We don't pick her up until October. Its been a long summer. Only thing that makes it worth it is the updates and pictures from the trainer. From what I understand she is doing really, ...

Re: foot hunting over AA dog?
Thanks for the replys guys. The reason I ask is because my pup is at the trainers and his heading off to S. Dakota for the summer. Her sire runs in the ABC FT circuit and is a FC/AFC. I bought my pup as more of a hunting dog, but she seems to like to run, and run, and run. :D The trainer says the Si...

foot hunting over AA dog?
This may be a stupid question, but how are AA field trail dogs for hunting over on foot? Can you reign them in a little or will they still run like crazy? Can you train them to tell the difference between someone hunting on foot vs. running a FT off horseback? Can you have a hunting dog and an AA do...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
Update. I put the collar on her but I didnt' use the stimulation. My wife and I started to call her to "come" less. We would only use the command when we really wanted her to "come". If she didn't come we would just ignore her and walk inside the house. Turns out that my Brit hates to be ignored. I ...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
Slistoe. Thank you for that response. That is what I was looking for. Whenever I work her, she is on the cord. In the yard or outside the yard. I have no problem letting her run around with the CC when she is supervised. I also make sure the lab is in the house when I work her. Or I take her to the ...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
Ray. What pissed me off was the "obviously" part. He has no idea how I treat my dog. And he didn't give good advice. I will not leave my dog on a CC while my wife and I are away at work and she is playing with our lab in the backyard. If my dog spent all day in a kennel, then sure, it would work. Bu...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
Knine. The pictures were my fault. My pup was holding pretty good on all the pictures. On the first one my wife had time to find the camera in her pocket, walk up about 20 feet, and snap the picture. On the second 2 the pup was holding really well, but I wanted to make sure my wife could get a close...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
When Im working her on birds or just yard work she is on the check cord. When we take the dogs out to just let them run on the field trial grounds she is on the check cord. If she is in the back yard off the check cord, and not training, she is not nearly as crisp. She still comes after 2 or 3 comma...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
Slistoe. OBVIOUSLY, I don't leave my dog on the check cord 100% of the time. OBVIOUSLY that would be little much. I actually like to let my dog play in my fenced back yard and let her run without a check cord. Obviously I wouldn't let her off the check cord when I'm working her in an open field on b...

Re: 10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
Britguy. For grins I just looked at your pups pedigrees. Our dogs share a lot of the same lines. My pup has Beans Blaze, Jim De Bob's Sparks A and D, and Mar-Kars's Jacs A Dan D in her pedigree. She also has Blaze Dakota Trucker in her. I think Blaze Dakota Trucker was nominated for the HOF but I'm ...

10 month old brit and e-collar (picts)
IVe started to train my 10 month old Brit. Ive been using the PS/PF method of teaching come/here. The problem is that she is smarter then me. :D She knows when she is on the check cord and behaves, but when she's of the cord or I'm not hanging on to it she knows she can run. SO, I just ordered the T...

pro trainer for my Brit
I'm looking for someone to train my Brit. Ive looked into Perfection Kennels and also talked to Tom Tracey Jr. I would like a gun dog I can hunt wild/plantation birds with and also run her in field trials like the NSTRA. I don't want a dog that I never get to see because she's running the field tria...

Got a new Brit.... Where to start
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but Ive been lurking for a couple weeks. I grew up in WA state, and had Brittany's all the way through high school. When our family's last Brit passed away my senior year it was pretty devistating. She was the best untrained Brit I have ever seen. She would have ...
