Re: E-Collar use for digging

The problem with this plan is that you cannot make a correction unless you are directly observing the dog. Does she do the digging when she is unsupervised in the yard? If so, how will you make a correction while you are at work or busy in the house? Lots of pups dig at that age, but if you can keep...

We bought 3 vests last fall and have used them a lot, but mostly in late season grass or stubble. Burrs have not been an issue, but the sizes are too small even if you measure carefully. We have found that we had to order a full size up from what the size chart specified. These vests would be better...

You might offer the adults a chick starter type of feed to give the squab a higher energy ration when the weather is cooler. As well, I have had an incident where the weather got really cold and the squab were too large for one parent bird to cover well in the nest. One squab didn't make it. They we...

Where we live, the winters are brutal for a pup that needs housebreaking. The first time we had a winter pup, we figured out that the normal stuff wasn't going to work. I would be concerned about the dogs getting bounced around, but if there are two walking axles it would be somewhat reduced. Dog trailers generally have a single axle, so that would be worse for bouncing than a horse trailer with double axles, but there are single axle horse trailers out there. Ther...

Hi MT, and welcome to the forum. It sounds like your dog will be well sheltered this winter. You could put hay in the doghouse for bedding (it doesn't track all over like straw). I have seen the same thing with my dogs and I wondered if the whirring sound which gamebird wings make on take off lured the dog to chase. Re: The vet took me to fatten up my pooch

I'm with Ray G. on this one. Start with a 30% protein and 20% ration, then add fat. The high fat in the ration maximises the dog's ability to uptake oxygen into the blood which has the effect of improving stamina. Ray is right about the fat burning abilities which develop in canine endurance athlete...

The label on your dog food bag will tell you how many cups of food to give for his weight range. Do what the bag says. Weigh your pup. The advice to deworm the pup is good advice. See the vet if this continues.
