I have met a lot of people like that Ezzy. When I worked at a pet supply store that offered training as well we would always have people coming in with problems. We would provide advice and for the Caesar people if it didn't align with Caesars way they would tell us we are wrong. Who has the problem...

I think I can see where you are coming from Neil, not really in a position to agree or disagree, but it makes sense. But it is pretty tough to correct a dog for bumping a bird and kill the bird at the same time. Someone should invent a e collar button built into a gun you can operate with your thumb...

It is not difficult to record your wins. Win enough and people will notice. There would be nothing stopping another registry from recording your wins in aftca, just fdsb may or may not do it.

I think the drug the nets out as well. I watched a show once about a woman training a portugese water dog for a fish dog trial. It was pretty cool actually. I feel the breed is being ruined by those who use it on waterfowl rather then nets as it was originally intended. I don't think they should even be allowed off the island.

When it was first bred the creators probably could care less if it pointed or not and could care less if someone used it one way or the other.

I don't know the numbers needed to maintain a genitcally healthy population, but I would venture there are many genetically healthy pure breeds out thete with a total population smaller than 10% of the lab population.

I thought most of the dogs across the pond are taught to flush on command, so ya definately, I don't think it would be difficult. On the other side of the coin I have a pointing dog that I was just about ready to throw in the towel, real him right in and hunt him like a springer until he had a break...

I'll definitely look him up. I like to see what others have to say. But his methods and ways bring result. His shows are not prefabricated. He does amazing things right in front of the camera which can not be refuted. And his Pack leader mentality I totally agree with for dogs or for people. Thanks...

I think it will pass as she gets older. All my dogs see a ton of other dogs and all of them got beat up as pups. Dogs don't mess with the older 2 anymore. I enjoy the competitiveness. The social aspect, hanging out and drinking too much pop with people who like talking about the same things and the bs. Watching a lot of nice dogs do what they do. I just try to get them on wild birds constantly from they day they come home. Try to shoot everything that fly's there first season and then only birds they let me flush after that.

I don't know what your terrain is like but I have always had good luck in alder swells up here. Regenerated farmland, and mature maple and oak in the river valleys where the alders are coming up as understory.

Do they thou? I see a lot of gsp's that share a lot more in common with a pointer than a dk. Looks like a lot of them want the same thing, and I for one don't see a "bleep" thing wrong with it.

I just don't understand how the goal of an akc aa shorthair differs from that af an aa pointer. Aren't both venues looking for the same thing? Or are the aa gsp breeders still trying to maintain the versatile aspect?
