quailrunner, you failed to mention temperment and conformation. The line of dogs i have been researching are only considered champions if they have proven themselves in the field as well as on the bench. Re: line breeding or in-breeding..your thoughts?
quailrunner,
you failed to mention temperment and conformation.
With close breedings the breeder needs to be honest, reputable, have a buy back contract and I like to hear what the goals are.
Are they going to keep a pup?
Breeding is all about the quality of the dogs involved.

They are specific in that they are pointing dog or retriever.
Most of the organizations are geared toward field, some have higher retrieving standards than others and NAVHDA is geared toward versatile hunting.

I would let him chase for about 100' then call him off to hunt again. He'll get the meassage and he may start to be more careful with his nose, too. The running past birds has me concerned. I didn't say only put the collar on the dog when you train. I don't think he is listening on the cc, instead only controlled by it, giving the impression of obeying.
Put him on a 100' cc, hook it up to the one you are currently using.
Do the suggested CCing by Evan Graham.
Use the ecollar to enforce. Right now, he doesn't know he's supposed to obey off lead.
