Re: Pocket Knife Recommendation

I used to be real big on Schrade but about 6 months or so ago I received a Sheffield knife for free from one of my inlaws and love it. It is hands down the best pocket knife I have ever carried. My dad is a knife collector and is always giving me nice pocket knives. I have had Gerber, Kershaw, Case,...

Re: All-Around Best Pistol

I like my Rock Island 1911 doublestack .45. It is large, hard to conceal, and may be a bit too much recoil for some but I like it. My wife shoots it but is not comfortable with the large grip it has for her small hands. I have large hands and am a big guy so the recoil and grip size does not affect ...

Re: Buying first pistol

I own a doublestack Rock Island.45. Impossible to conceal. Heavy weight makes for less recoil and great for big hands like mine. Can't beat 14 rounds of .45 for self defense either. I really like the Rock Island 1911's because they are inexpensive but extremely well made sturdy guns. I have done qui...

Re: A good dog, is a good dog, is a good dog....

My dogs range real big but I am a lazy hunter who likes to find a high spot and wait for the dogs to go on point and walk to the point when quail hunting. I also have large tracts of open prairie to hunt out here in far western Oklahoma, many people do not. I think big running dogs can hunt and tria...

All I do is hunt and know several trialers and kennel owners and all trial exclusively. It is what they enjoy and how they make money in addition to their day jobs. I am probably in the minority here nevertheless all of the trialers I know do not hunt only trial.

Perhaps the only way to settle this dilemma is to take the best dogs of all breeds from several venues i.e. AA horseback, Coverdog trials, NAVDHA, retriever trials, BDC, NSTRA, NBHA events, shooting dog trials, walking AKC trials and match them up against each other in a way that they are evaluated ...

Seems to me that some of the breeds outside of pointers and to some degree setters try and use pointer qualities to quantify whether or not they have superior dogs within their breed. That is not fair to that dog or that breed. Use qualities that are inherant and strong within that breed to quantify...
