It takes a big person to laugh off a "shredded" situation. Our first lab did not like the fact that we all went to the beach for a week without her. My grandfather came and played with her and fed and watered her every day. The day before we came home she went downstairs to where mom kept all of our...

I planned on crating my dogs at night and when nobody is around to keep an eye on them and also in the vehicle. Too much can go wrong otherwise. My parents learned those lessons the hard way.

Remmington game loads in 7.5's with a 12 guage. I used them for both quail and pheasant - pen raised though. I downed a pheasant and a few quail with them. No problem.

I had not thought of the mud thing, as I do not have my V yet. I will be leaving a towel by the back door now. Lots of flower beds to investigate!

Greg: Sorry to hear of your loss. It must be tough to deal with at this time of year, not to mention the extra stress of just getting into your new house. My thoughts and prayers are with you. If you need any assistance with anything, you know how to reach me. Things will get better! Regards, Justin

I guess I wasn't articulate enough. I'm not looking for a fight either, but I have to agree with Mountaindog's last paragraph. In addition, each judge has a different "interpretation" of the standard, which dictates the dogs that appear to be more appealing to their likes. With the example that Moun...

Those are gret posts wagonmaster. You see, I started my vizsla search at a dog show - which was a huge mistake. I went there to meet a breeder and see "different dogs." All I saw at the show was a bunch of dogs being led around the ring on those leads, hoping to get a piece of liver (or whatever) fo...

I have not nor will not say that the people who show the dogs are the ones I despise. I despise the format and purpose, but that's just me. I do not nor will not look down my nose at people who show dogs. It's just an opinion that may or may not be shared by others. Respect it, don't. That's your ch...

I still despise the show ring. I've seen lots of dogs that supposedly look good, but won't hunt worth a hill of beans. That's just not my cup of tea. The vizsla was put on this earth to put food on the table, not look good in the show ring. Just my opinion. I am new here, so take that with a grain o...

I agree with the mountaindog's post. That is one of the reasons that I despise the show ring and do not plan on showing my dog. I've been to a couple dog shows and watched them on tv. They just disgust me.

Forgive me, but I am fairly new here. I just went through the process of researching and finding a vizsla breeder. I wanted a larger framed dog with a certain look to them (not show quality). I wanted a pup that would be a good hunter (possibly test and/or trial) and a good house pet. I went and wat...

I was impressed with the Keetons and their dogs. They are onyl 45 minutes away from my place.

I am getting the pup from the Keeton's of Cardington, OH. We have spent a lot of time doing research and making visits. I finally decided what I wanted and pulled the trigger. Now it's time to wait until March some time. On the flip side, what part of WV are you from? I traveled that whole state whi...

I was referred to this site by a current member and after reading the site for about a week have decided to join! I do not currently have a dog, but should have one this spring. I have a deposit in for a vizsla that will most definitely be a hunting dog, but will also be a house dog. I am looking fo...
