There's a big difference between carrying on when the dog thinks it's going to get to work or just sitting on the couch and whining for no apperant reason as the ops dog is doing. I've had several GSP's and none have whined just to hear themselves whine so I'm not sure you can blame the breed for th...

Yup, pull the food. I doubt the dog will starve itself. Dogs shouldn't be fed before exercise so listen to the dog and feed her after the run.

Adrenaline can play a factor in your hunt test. So don't be surprised if your normally fantastic dog does something you would not expect. We re homed a lot of our sleddogs at age 7 or 8. Many went to places where they were kept inside. Generally they adapted very well to the change. I don't quite understand your reluctance to go to the breeder with the problems you are having. He needs to be kept in the loop and may even have some ideas of why the dog is acting as he is. Until you check in with him we don't really know what he's willing to do to rectify the problem.

Well I have the 2014 model. Maybe it's a bit larger. It's more than adequate for two dogs in the back. It won out over the outback because of the gas mileage. With one crate I can drive with the seat up and we're just lacking an inch with two crates in the back.

I can't imagine a GSP that had to be in the house like that. A normal GSP wants to run and hunt. They are gluttons for work. Your dog has issues that are not because of the breed. We start sleddogs between 6and 12 months. Easy workouts, no pressure, just fun. If the dog takes 2 times to turn for you, the next 4 times you ask him to turn correct him without waiting to see if he is going to turn. Then go without the correction. If he doesn't respond another 4 times of correction.

Back to the original question of why whoa is important. Whoa can be the foundation of many other things the dog needs to learn. Whoa is easy to teach.
