Re: forget everything you thought you knew about feeding
There are lots of good feeds out there. Pick the one that makes you happy and go with it. I think the thing that bothers me about this thread is the title "forget everything you thought you knew about feeding". It's down right condescending and insulting. Yes, there was good info in the interview, b...

The outbreak appears to be centered around horses that went to the big NCHA cutting in Utah. A great many of the horse events in the effected states have been cancelled or postponed for at least the next couple of weeks. I personally would not let my horses off my property or any new animals on unti...

sounds like a pretty typical puppy to me. they go thru phases where they seem to have the potty thing figured out, then they seem to have no clue. crate him when not 100% supervised. put him out after he eats, drinks, wakes up or finishes playing. use a leash if necessary, take him to the designated...

Kiddo (8 months) tends to be a pest in the evenings. I like to sit in my computer chair and surf while watching (or ignoring) the TV. I don;t see any correlation between cuddling a dog and having a dog jump up on you. My dogs are companions as much as anything... they sleep on my bed, cuddle on the couch, and live with us 99% of the time. They only stay in the kennels when we want to go into town sans dog... That said, I can't sta...

OFA scores hips against a hypothetical standard. PENN HIP rates against other dogs of the same breed. If you have a "rare" breed, there might not be much of sample to compare to for a PENN HIP. If you have a dog from a breed that is notorious for poor hip joint conformation... you might have the bes...

I had hoped that a vet would jump in here... I would call your vet tomorrow morning and see what he/she says, but if it were my dog I would wait. Things inside are swollen and blood engorged, better to wait until she is out of heat and the risks go down.

Re: Something to mix in to put on a little weight?
I much prefer to have my dogs eat their food when it is offered to them (either once or twice) daily. When your dog eats for one or two days then turns their nose up at the food for a couple of days (or more), you run the risk of a dog running out of energy when they really need it. I regulate their...

A choke chain and a basic obedience class. Just opt not to teach the sit... A dog that won;t walk nicely on a leash is a PITA (Pain In The A$$) to have around. They all need to learn some basic manners.

Dogs like people have likes and dislikes. No matter how "good" or expensive the food is, there will be dogs that don;t like it or won't do well on it. Try some different quality feed and find one that your dog likes and provides the nutrition he needs.

If you have made the decision to neuter him, that is your business and no one else gets a vote... he is your dog. That said, I HIGHLY recommend waiting until he is physically mature. Neutered dogs have the potential to grow larger due to the lack of testosterone (telling the bone growth to stop). Th...
