Yep, as long as there was even one mite, you have mange. They still treat it with mitaban and ivermectin (daily) and pyoben shampoo's. One of our dogs was on 0.9 mls of ivermectin daily for about 2 months when it finally cleared. We had to go in every two weeks for rescraping to check on the mites. ...

He just took best of winner this week in a show in St Joseph. Even so, I would talk to someone who has been aroung Vizsla's for a while and ask t...

Good thing he is not a hunting dog. :D We call Elvis the "Bubble Boy" as he is also allergic to grass, trees, weeds, dirt and 52 other items on the three allergy panels we have had tested. Almos...

Big Steve, That's ok, it's not on the Diamond website. They list it on its own site but is a Diamond product. They just advertise it under a different line. I can't feed it because I have a dog with allergies to poultry but I have friends that do feed it. This great food debate can go on forever but...

It's always been their agenda for no human to have an animal as a pet. Unfortunately they advertise to the uninformed and that's how they get their money. The HSUS(HUmane Society of the United States not your local humane society) is just as bad and they are worse to me because people think they are...

Cancer is genetic in that is gives the dog a predisposition for a particular type of cancer but does not guarantee that the dog will get that cancer. That is why some in a litter may get and others not(kind of like a loaded gun, you never know). It is not known what will trigger it but it is somethi...

I know when we started looking for a puppy the prices ranged from $800.00 -$1500.00 from the breeders(vizsla) that had the qualities I liked i.e. experience, field and comformation lines with titles, and no major health issues. I was happy with who I bought from and they still help me everyday with ...

Ok , question: Is the smell coming from the dog in general or particularly the ears or a small wound? The reason I ask is that a Pseudomonas Aruginosa infection can smell like corn chips or corn tortilla's. See, this is what you get from working in a lab. Start thinking of all sorts of things. Carla

Well, a lot of the "Obstacles" are there to ensure that a dog does find a permanent home, does not get lost and picked up as a stray and does not get sent back again. Look into the rescue and see what there requirments are and are they something you can live with. Then ask yourself "if the dog doesn...

Many of us in Dock Dogs have also had good luck in supplementing their diet with salmon oil. I don't think there is any scientific proof it works but it does seem to cut down on the incidents of dead tail. We also keep Rimadyl or aspirin handy at the competition site.
