If killing birds ruined bird dogs all of them would be ruined, and punishing a kid for doing something they didn't even know was wrong is worse than beating a dog for the same reason.


Both the kid and the dog sound perfectly normal to me.

there is a product for rubber coating tools you can get at a supply house that you could dip the first few inches of chain in. or maybe somehow slip over and tie a piece of clear plastic hose over the first few inches of the chain. I suppose you can choose to believe that but science is science so you might want to discuss it with your vet. I don't know why they are toxic but apparently they are. My dogs love muscadines and they are a common wild grape down here.

"bleep" birds are way better than no birds and down here in ga no birds is what the reality is, unless you plant them. You are blessed to live in the mid west.

Its been years since I heard the term ""bleep" birds" I laughed when I read that, I was raised in WI in the 60's.

if one of my dogs were doing this I would cease the planted bird use entirely and make a trip to North dakota for a week and let the dog work wild birds. The dogs already demonstrated he is birdy and intense he just needs to learn to respect the scent cone and not get to close. He will teach himself...

I would forget the electric blanket also, you won't need the vest either. Feed the dogs at night so they have a full belly and do what I suggested with the crate and they will be warm. Its a big difference in temp from here to ND and my shorthairs never ever seem to notice. I think they like it cold...
