Re: Joined up after living in the shadows

Tasi, That is some cool looking area to hunt birds.

K9, Paneras is real close to my house. I am just south of there a couple blocks. John Hortin (docsusie) is in there all the time. Got to let us know when you are back this way again. Tasi, you can come too :D

Re: It's a BOY!

Congratulations to you and your wife. Having a son to take hunting is awesome. My son and I get out fairly often.
My daughter is great too, but see is not real interested in hunting, but loves the dogs.

Re: First 20ga

I have a Beretta 20 ga O/U that I really like. It is a light smooth handling gun.
But I have had a Rem 1100 20ga lightweight for many years. I think it is one of the best all around guns you will find for upland bird hunting. I also shoot it better than any gun I have shot.

Re: Most Unlikely Gundog you have seen in the field?

At both hunt tests i ran this spring there were a pair of Irish setters  ....... My dad had field bred Irish setters when I was a kid it makes me sick to see what they have become. JIm I had an Irish that was darn good when I was young. Don't find many good Irish Setters any more, but the ...

What birds do you like to hunt?

We have 3 birds in this area to hunt. BW Quail, Greater Prairie Chicken and Pheasants. By far my favorite is Quail. There are a blast to hunt, and there are few birds better to break in a young dog. The "Vest" is home made. He had a run in with some barbed wire, and after the stitches were out, he h...

Re: WHAT AGE IS/WAS YOUR PUP???

Ace is now 2.5, but I started with the come, and the rules of the house, as soon as I got him at 10 weeks. I ran him on wild quail as soon as I could. Had to wait until the quail hatch was over and the young birds were old enough to fly well. Didn't take long for him to respect them. I hunted him hi...

Joined up after living in the shadows

Hello all. I have been reading posts here for a long time, but had a problem getting registered months ago and never got around to it. I am an avid bird hunter, and kind of like setters :D I have a 14 year old Gordon that has had to be retired from hunting, and a 2.5 year old Llewellin Setter, Ace. ...
