Due to the state workers being laid off, can anyone tell me what the out of state regs are on hunting pheasant in minnesota? Is it like South dakota where you get 2 two week periods for about 100 bucks?

how many bird contacts has he had? probably the biggest reason why most dogs "don't" point. How old is the dog?

I have been seeing them more and more in northern wisc. My older dog finally locked up on a nice point and i was able to shoot it. Saw 6 in 1 hour last night. I am determined to not shoot a bird this year until it is pointed, so far i am doing good, but getting a little twitchy..

Sounds like she had the bird in her mouth. I would turn and walk the other way when she starts playing games like that.
Did you teach her the come command. Reinforce with an E-collar.
Read on here about Force Fetching. I am sure someone is going to bring that up.

Let me be clear. Neither the dog nor I can see the birds when he busts them. Sorry if i wasn't clear. He will run over them either by tracking the scent, or by just sheer luck if he is downwind or missed it etc... I definately can tell if he is on the scent of a bird, but don't say anything.

this maybe a simple solution, but have you ever just wrapped the dummy with wings, do some retrieves, and then swap out for a dead duck, etc.. etc... Swap back and forth. maybe once the light goes green, it will stay green.

probably best to talk to a breeder. Get puppies and have fun. I would not get a started dog and a puppy. Maybe a finished dog and a puppy, but you might as well get 2 finished dogs.
