I think in your shoes I'd get settled and check out what's available in your new area as far as being able to exercise the pup and do a little training. Better to know before bringing a puppy home than to have it and be looking for solutions to "Now what?" You'll have to know your work hours, travel...

If he's doing well on that formula, just feed less once a day. If he gets trouble with bile with his stomach empty for 24 hours, use part of the daily ration at the 12 hour mark; just a handful will do. I've found it easier on the dogs to cut back gradually so they're at the proper amount in about 1...

With head slinging IME it's not so much what you're doing with that particular point, it's what you do/did during training. Could be too much chatter from yourself, too much verbal cautioning, too much hands on styling up, too much physical correction, sometimes even overly aggressive body language....

Sometimes that point is 200-300 yards out and since you can't run in NSTRA it can take some time to get to the dog. That's when she is likely to scoop the bird. Have you worked on that in training by making her wait? Lots of times in training it's dog points and handler gets right on the flush. But...
