Re: Airline puppy shipping
I feel for you on the distance to the airport. I am 150 miles from Fargo. I have checked into ground transport, but it really isn't convenient as the times they can pick up dogs really just doesn't work with when I need the puppies going. I always do early a.m. flights, so the new owners have a good...

I have used Delta for most puppies that I ship. The last 3 puppies that flew out 3 weeks ago went to MA, OH and TX. Texas was going to be to hot to ship via Delta so I used United for the 1st time. They flew out of Fargo, and I could tell United's staff must not get a lot of puppies there, as it too...

The original breed standard called for only "natural bob tails" However when they discovered that the trait can be lethal when breeding 2 dogs with that trait, they changed it. Now with the changing of the laws in some counties, outlawing the docking of tails, they are finding that a full tail chang...

The medication is doing its job. Hugo has not had a seizure in over 48 hours now, and is bouncing right back. I really think he had to have gotten into something. Hugo had a seizure again last night at 7:30, before I could give him his pill. The Vet said that could happen. He didn't want to eat so I put the pill down the back of his throat. i might be mistaken, but I believe once the dog achieves a title or produces a litter, then you can not change the name. Passes or placements don't matter for that. A title changes the registered name, passes and placements do not.

I am not in a position to comment on GSP's or Lab's, as they are not my chosen breed. That being said, we have a color pattern issue in Epagneul Bretons as well. It is called "sable". It is a coat that has black hairs intermixed in the orange hairs where they should not exist. It is caused by the Ay...

Re: Should birddogs be judged/titled based on conformation?
It is the parent breed club that sets the standards and can change them. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. We went to AKC to try and get Epagneul Breton's split from from "Brittany's" and recognized as a distincy breed. They referred it to the "American Brittany Club", as the ones to...

Re: Should birddogs be judged/titled based on conformation?
Absolutely they should be. Conformation is how you define a breed. If we don't adhere to it all we have are mutts in the end. That is not to say a mutt can't be a great bird dog and a wonderful companion, but the traits are not reproducable consistantly, which is what having a defined breed is all a...

In FCI the country of origin controls the breed standard. So it would take the motherland to change a breed standard.
