I don't have a floor in mine and built it that way on purpose. I fill mine with straw ( in winter) or if I want to clean it I just turn it up and that is it. I tie mine down with ratchet straps.

Psittacosis is a rare disease in pigeons but can kill people and it is reportable to the CDC. If you took a pigeon to the vet and it was positive for this you would be force to eliminate the disease. Pigeons can carry 100 diseases but the chances of getting them and it accually hurting you are rare.

I use baking pans. Put it down for 10 min. then pick it up. I give fresh water daily. I would try to do this always. I use rubber bowls to break the ice out easily. Pigeons are very tough I once left a pigeon in a cage for 6 days cause it was under some straw and I did not see it until the next week...

All mine are nikon also and I have a D70 and it is pretty nice. You should be able to get a D70 for a decient price now. I would get something like don has 28-200 or 70-300 lense. You need something with some zoom for most the dog pics you will take.

Don is right it is not the pigeon. Teach whoa then use birds that will fly away. Pigeons that are homed to a loft could accually be the cure if you have launchers. As soon as the dog creeps launch the bird.

Yes, they live together fine. I often keep quail in my pigeon pens. I thought when I first did it that the pigeons might kill them but that is not true. Accually I think the pigeons are more scared of the quail. Should work just fine.

Your pup is not vacinated until after all the parvo shot series is completed. This would make him at least 12 weeks. If the breeder will hold him until then that would be a good idea.

I believe the next day is too soon. That it must have got it somewhere else. Ask your vet. It does stay around for a long time and it is the nastiest stuff to ever have. Most dogs die a horiable death.

Yes, 5 dollars is a good price for nice birds. You need young birds that have not flown. If not you are taking your chances with losing them.

You are right about the dogs changing but alot of people like it. I firmly believe you can make those big runners hunt close all the time if that is what you want. It would be enough room. The wings would stay strong when they are out flying. Most people use a bob trap. Like this. Scrol down and look at the one that says Heavy Duty Traps.

New pigeon loft.

Here is some pics of some of my lofts the newest is the large one. It strictly a flight loft as you can tell by the perch style. I have not made the trap for it yet.
