I found a nice little 28 O/U a few years ago as well but I had 2nd thoughts and went 20ga instead. Heres why. Thanks for the input. Saw a nice little Browning Citori O/U 28 w/straight stock at the gun shop today. Just curious how they were on pheasant. Pointed like a dream, fast handling, lightweight and I've heard they pattern well. They wanted a tish over $2k though..... Sure made my sticker peck out!

But, should the best of our breeds and the goal or our breeding programs and our quest for the best dog possible within our breed not include "style, run, tails, etc..."? Down the road when we get an EB pup I hope to give trials a shot. Not only do I want to win breed trials I also want to compete and win against all breeds (pointers, GSPs, ABs, Setters, etc…) I want the EB to be the best within its breed and I want it to be the best in all breeds. I have no problem with people have got off the couch and given the trials an honest look and deciding it is not for them and don't like the dogs, but it kind of gets to me when someone has never seen one and decides they aren't bird dogs. I think maybe non-trial folks decide that trial dogs are not...

We might be heading to a Christmas party on Dec. 29th in Monticello and I wouldn't mind sneaking away to do a little hunting. Looks like there are WMAs and WPAs around the area…any pheasants?

Lets start and endowment fund for anything other than a pointer or setter to win The AA National at Ames. All of you that think it is possible throw in $200. And if that dog wins in the next 40 yrs we'll give it to the winner, Oh and by the way, I'll throw in an extra $10K to the winner. BUT..........

I thought it would be fun to try and qualify an EB for Ames. Is it run that keeps GSPs and Britts from qualifying or is it their short tail? Do you think judges give other dogs besides pointers a fair look?
