Ratdog, I'll trade you my recent bird hunts for your age? All things in time...... I wish I could go back to those days with my sons but alas, it is not negotiable. Simply stunning!! Thanks for sharing Sir.
I have been invited to hunt NM next season. I may take the gent up on his offer while I'm in AZ.
I took him out here for a hunt and he was so appreciative. We had a blast until he tried to take my setter from me!

Firming up this dog's recall/"come command" will do absolutely nothing for it's hunting application. It is an indication of overhandling where wild birds are concerned. That's why the gent with the raw lips from whistle blowing or hoarse voice from hacking serve no purpose in teaching the dog the re...

Here is why I posted what I posted. Pup "training" in the home is a given and perhaps that was understated. I reiterate, I was of the assumption Ratdog was asking about the formal field training of his pup. Polmaise and Sharon make great points however as I see it, they have little to do with the Op...

In any given home, there typically is a father, mother and children. DonF, I have to disagree. The OPs only restriction is that it's February. If he was in this position and it was July, I'd urge him to "get 'er done"! This is no longer a "pup" by my definition. It is a "teenager" needing direction. As soon as the weather warms up, the OP needs to regain ground with ...

Not something I personally appreciate in my bird dogs but it's about that whole versatile "jack of all trades - master of some".

Fun Dog, I congratulate you on your previous successes with your dogs. That said, dog training is anything but repetition. Taking the wrong tack on a dog "repetitively" is not going to serve anyone. Reading dogs is a huge part of training success. As such, you need to be more than a one trick pony.

Reba, try going into your laptop pics and right click. You should get a number of options - one being "Resize". Just play around with the size until you find what works, save, etc. Done properly you will still have the original and the resized version in your pics. That's what I have done in the past.
