Dog Boxes
Hey, I'm looking for some opinions on dog boxes. I have two English Cockers, on is about 30 lbs, the other is still a pup, but will mature somewhere around 35 pounds. Right now I just use cheap crates for them, but I'd like to invest in a nicer dog box. I'm driving a Honda Ridgeline, which has a tru...

Re: Field Trials rigged?
I think we got a little off track here. I was really just looking to see if FTs are so political that it wouldn't be worth my time, or if I'd still have a chance in spite of no connections. Clearly almost everything in life is subjective (although I do believe in absolutes), so I wouldn't expect fie...

Re: Ivomec Continued
OKay, thanks. Do you give a bi-annual wormer for tapeworms, or something like that, or do you just not worry about them?

Re: Ivomec Continued
One last question. Do I need to supplement a .1cc/10 lbs dose of Ivomet with any other wormers in order to cover everything? I've read different things about whether or not it kills tapeworms. thanks.

Re: Ivomec Continued
I formerly used the .1/10lbs and later cut it to .05cc/10lbs. Hence why I use 1/2 click of the 1.87% paste rather than the 1 click that others use. I just happened to stumble across this thread, but it's been extremely helpful. I purchased some of the Ivermectin and want to make sure I'm measuring ...

Re: City council meeting
I ran into a similar situation the other day. I have a 16 year old neighbor who is a nice kid, but has some maturity issues, and is fatherless and was adopted at age 12. So, I've tried to go out of my way to befriend him and help him out. The other day I invited him along to catch pigeons with me, b...

Re: Field Trials rigged?
Thanks for all of the replies; this has been what I was hoping to hear. i think chip on the shoulder is probably the most accurate statement for the breeder. He loves his dogs, hunts and trains all of them, but is extremely negative about the FTs. thanks again for the replies. I am going to continue...

Re: Field Trials rigged?
Thanks for the replies. The breeder was definitely not saying that his dogs do not have the ability to win FTs, he was simply stating that there is so much politics and nepotism going on in the trials that if you are an "outsider," you won't have success. His dogs are high quality and definitely phy...

Field Trials rigged?
Hello, I've got a question for those of you who have experience with field trials. Does the average joe have any chance of placing in them? I am considering getting into them at some point (although hunt tests will be my first step), but I have been told by my dog's breeder that it isn't worth my ti...

He'll probably switch over to cockers soon enough anywaykninebirddog wrote:That would probably keep the friendship going by taking turns hunting the dogs separately

Re: Pointers/Flushers
Sounds like I'm going to have to tell this guy to get a flusher if he wants to hunt with me:) I don't think I want to make my dog heel for an entire hunt, but I suppose we could kennel one dog and hunt the other and just rotate. Or, maybe we can do miniature drives working towards eachother, that wa...

Pointers/Flushers
Does anyone out there have any experience hunting behind a flusher and a pointer simultaneously? I recently made acquaintances with a guy who runs a Wirehaired Vizsla, and we might go out bird hunting together a few times this fall. I have two English Cockers (one is just a pup), and I'm wondering h...

Re: Pup help (long post)
I've got a 7 1/2 week old ECS that is exhibiting the exact same behaviors-- and I'm not worried one bit! You've gotta give them time to be puppies!
