We still have quite a bit of frost. We have been in the deep freeze this year. Try to pound a stake in the ground and you could be busy for 2 hrs. It just would not go below the 2 inch line. we are finally warming up this week 50's almost all week. at that rate the ground should thaw within 2 weeks.

Mark, yes I had the stakes along sat., but did not use them. It was cold and I thought the ground had way to much frost in it anyway. You saw them in the top of my dog box, They are painted high viz green.

I make my own out of rebar. cost is less than 2 bucks. I have some that are shorter for hard rocky soil and some that are longer for loose sandy soil. Make sure your chain has swivels at both ends or you will be foever unwrapping the dog from the stake.

use stainless or galvonized buckets, it does not develope as fast. plastic buckets will grow it in one day when the temp is right. I scrub and clean buckets at least 2 times a week in warm weather.
