We still have quite a bit of frost. We have been in the deep freeze this year. Try to pound a stake in the ground and you could be busy for 2 hrs. It just would not go below the 2 inch line. we are finally warming up this week 50's almost all week. at that rate the ground should thaw within 2 weeks.

Mark, yes I had the stakes along sat., but did not use them. It was cold and I thought the ground had way to much frost in it anyway. You saw them in the top of my dog box, They are painted high viz green.

Trials and dog challenges are great and I run them both. There is a game for everyone to play its just that some require a different level of training or different caliber of dog. The place I put most stock when looking at titled dogs in general, rather it be for breeding or purchase is Hunt Test ti...

I make my own out of rebar. cost is less than 2 bucks. I have some that are shorter for hard rocky soil and some that are longer for loose sandy soil. Make sure your chain has swivels at both ends or you will be foever unwrapping the dog from the stake.

Do scalies hold good or are they known for running, like gambles and blues. Is there a lot of public walk on ground down there? How about sharptails or prairie chicken? Would not be a huge drive for me, I am about 30 miles from Lincoln Ne. If you live in Co. there is a chance you are a Buffs fan, pl...

Thats so cool!!!! Sign me up, I would love to go hunt those birds. I have never hunted quail other than Nebraska bob white, Which can produce the same type of action packed day. Pheasants, sharptails, prairie chickens are good, but quail is the most fun and the best shooting challenge. Truely a poin...

use stainless or galvonized buckets, it does not develope as fast. plastic buckets will grow it in one day when the temp is right. I scrub and clean buckets at least 2 times a week in warm weather. I dump out water and fill with fresh every day. a toilet cleaning brush works just fine to get in all ...

I too would have to agree Diamond is good stuff. I switched just recently to country vet brand and its equally as good, just about $2 more a bag for the premium adult. The only reason I switched was the store I bought it from would run out and would not have it for a week and I would have to get it ...

Maybe its just my local area. Thats great hearing that maybe it was not state wide and possibly The birds by my area could have had trouble in the spring nesting period and maybe thats why we did not see many.

My vet did 2 fecal tests a few days apart, just as you said the whipworms may not have shown up. both test seemed fine and we went ahead and treated the dogs as if they tested positive for the whipworms. They had a special wormer with 10 days of antibiotic to follow up. The 26/18 food they are on is...

Thanks for the suggestions. I removed puppy food from there diet as recomened by my vet. We wanted to make sure the stool problem was not diet related and thought the puppy formula could be to rich. They are on a premium active adult food 26% protien and 18% fat the same as my other dogs. Both these...

hunt test mh level

The master level is definitly getting more popular. For the last couple of years we have had usually 5 to 8 braces of masters compaired to 2 or 3 in previous years. The sport is growing, and thats great. We need to encourage new handlers to train to the sh and mh levels. At least if you get to that ...

Do you think it is because of all the ice we had in early December? I know I am worried. I live about 25 miles from Lincoln and am used to finding about 2 to 5 coveys a day. This year I did not get out as much because I had a litter of pups to take care of and was guiding on a preserve, but I went w...
