Re: Multiple Trainers
Thanks very much for the helpful responses. I see your point Shags about it being a little convoluted. I’m using the trainer here to board the dog while I’m gone, teach me some stuff and try not to piss off my wife by leaving her with two boys and a puppy to deal with while I’m at work. I really lik...

Re: Multiple Trainers
Question was pretty simple, is it wise to send your dog to more than one trainer? I’m starting him with the local guy and wondering if it would be a problem to send him to the guy my grandfather recommends later. I don’t have any affiliation to either. The local trainer was recommended by the breede...

Re: New Mexico Scaled Quail - An Evening to Remember
Those look like oil/gas tanks. You near Farmington or Hobbes? I used to work out that way some. Didn’t know there was good quail shooting. Is there decent public access?

Saskatchewan
I’ve seen that there are quite a few canucks on here and someone mentioned Huns in Sask. I’m not too far south of the border and am thinking about taking a road trip up there in the fall for a little DIY shooting trip. Seems like there isn’t much in the way of public land, not like in the western US...

Re: Rabbit Hunting with Drahthaar
Seems like that’s just a fancy way of saying German wirehair which is a pointer, right? You hunt rabbits with hound dogs, most commonly beagles. It’s an absolute riot. Nothing funnier/cooler than watching a pack of beagles swarming all over the place. Once they get on the scent and flush the rabbit ...

Re: Deer chasing
My grandfather likes to tell a story about a dog of his that took off grouse hunting in northern Michigan. He called the local radio station and asked them to say something about the lost dog. He called back later and a farmer had called in that he had the dog. My grandfather went to the farm and th...

Re: New to the forum & the GSP breed
I have a Brit about the same age so I feel for you. I basically think of it as a mouth that happens to have a puppy attached. I don’t like the idea of sticking my fingers down his throat until he gags or holding his mouth closed or anything like that because I don’t want him to associate my touch wi...

Multiple Trainers
This is my little dude Tubbs. Got him at 8 weeks, he’s like 12 weeks now. He is crate trained and 90% house trained with the occasional accident. My wife and kiddos and I have been focused on showing him lots of love and getting him socialized with other pups, people and kids. We’ve been doing pupp...

Re: A little about you...
My name is Max. I live in Bozeman, MT. Work in ND in the oil patch. I have a Brittany pup named Tubbs who is 8 weeks. Starting in a couple months I’m going to leave him with a trainer while I’m away on hitch due to my schedule. I’ll pick him up and the trainer is going to give me homework to work on...
