Majority of my reports have been bad for pheasant. Quail should have good areas. When yoy planning your trip for? Could give more info closer to season.

The Piwer Hunter is not the most comfortable blind, but it definitely hides better and folds up smaller than others. Something to think about if space is an issue.

I have taken every one of my dogs dove hunting. They will not confuse it with searching and pointing. It is a discipline thing, they learn very quick when they must mind and when they can go wild. Lack of basic obedience and knowing their job. My griff will run like crazy while hunting sharptails or pheasant, then sit perfectly still in his blind or laying beside me while waterfowling. My last britt would do the same. Sit means Sit, regardless of situation.

I have a SD 1225 for my griff, have really enjoyed it so far. Heard bad things about the sd 400 and some of the older models. Mine is 3 years and prob used over 200 days a year for waterfowl, upland, and training.

I have a SportDog SD1225, has vibe and tone also. Use the vibrate for an attention getter, to recall, or cast another direction. Stimulation is used for corrections.

I agree. My last lab was born on Aug. 26, shot numerous pheasant over him by the end of the season. He went into the next season already knowing the game.

Larry is a great guy, will be training with him soon. I got my griff from Stellar Vista kennels in MO, Jamie Kuhn and Brian While from WI put out some great dogs also.

I will never understand the constant argument of trial dog vs hunting dog. The huge majority of trial dogs are also hunting dogs, to argue anything else is a serious waste of time. Should work good. Might try both loads with different chokes, results can vary, only thing to do is put them to paper. If you are not shooting beyond 40 yards, #3 will do everything you need, #2's are good to have around for windy days.

Depends on the weather, if it is warm I take it easy on the dogs and myself. During normal hunting season weather normally hunt sunrise to sunset while chasing upland birds, most trips are for 3 days.

You will gain about 25 pellets. I have found #3 to be plenty for anything smaller than geese out to 40 yards. When I have to use steel for upland I use a 7/8 oz #4 reload.

After 15 years with a britt, that I kept well trimmed, I am really enjoying having my griff. Whether he gets wet, muddy, burrs, etc.., send him into the tall grass or brush and 2 minutes later he seems to come out spotless. Couldn't imagine taking care of a setter.
