Well they are doing just fine right across the boarder in the Southern Tier I would doubt seriously that the birds know where the state line is.

Best hunting is still down here in Louisiana when it gets cold and if you want we can go chase woodcock I live near Lafayette. I might have to take you up on that. Never even seen a woodcock before. Don't forget WOODCOCK. I believe you have a pretty long season on them.
Central Virginia WMA's, and Cumberland State Forest are loaded with woodcock from reports of hunters in the area.

Ran Indy my hunting dog in a Nstra trial. She got second in an eighteen dog trail and got her 1st championship point to boot. She is a nice dog I rate her a 7.8 on a scale of 10. Yea, thats part of hog hunting, I put kevlar vests on the dogs that try to catch to prevent. Any dog cur, brddog, hound, and even bulldogs are gonna get tore up fooling with hogs. Steady through Fall is simply a more controlled environment for all involved dogs and gunners. Safer in my humble opinion.
In addition were birds covey up you will get more oppurtunities with a completely broke dog that doesn't bust up additional birds like a dog that breaks on flush or shot.
