I started reloading a couple years ago for the 20 ga. I use a light 3/4 oz recipe on quail and clays, but I stick to factory 7/8 or 1 oz #6 for pheasants. I go with 1oz #8's for dove.
I've also reloaded some 20 ga. slugs for deer hunting, though I do prefer the Federal Vital-Shok shells.

But he's here nonetheless! James Isaac Ayres (Isaac) was born on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 4:01 p.m. at home in Flat Rock, IL. He weighed 8lbs 13oz and was 22.5" long. Wow. The worst vet bill I remember having to pay is $99 - and that's because it was a weekend visit at the Emergency Vet Clinic and not my normal vet's office. I've been lucky with a healthy dog I suppose.

Go with the 20 ga. as it's much more versatile. You can load up with 1 oz loads for dove, and down to 3/4 oz loads for bobwhites and clays. The standard 7/8 oz takes care of the rest.
