I am letting her hunt the way she wants. I am putting almost no limits on her while hunting and it has been working great. I am not rushing her. It seems like you guys are thinking that I am saying she needs to be %100 perfect and finished right now. For Godsake all I asked was if she will get bette...

Thats really all I have done with my pup, I have taught her Woah in addition but I do not reinforce it while on birds with the collar. The only thing I use the collar for is the command Come. And I use it as a last resort when we are any where near birds and definately not when there may be birds in...

I rarely if ever use the collar while out hunting. When we go out for birds she is all out and shows no signs of holding back. Her range is definately not a problem. I put up with a lot of stuff on birds that I dont while doing obedience. Let me reiderate that I could not be more happy with how she ...

I am not making a big deal out of it. I was just asking a question. Like I said believe me, I am thrilled with her progress and desire, however I will not tolerate disobedience. The way I correct that is with very light stimulation and she complies with tail wagging because I have correctly conditio...

First remember that your gsp is almost nothing like your lab other than the fact they are both sporting dogs. So while some of the same techniques can be used for your GSP as your lab, many of them will not work. Start doing play training with her about a week after you get her home and she has sett...

I am thinking of getting a beeper collar for hunting though. I am taking her hunting Saturday and am going to put out...

Thanks for the tip. That is exactly what I was thinking. If all I was wanting was a hunting dog that would be fine. She is doing hunting very well at such a young age. But I am wanting to trial her so that is a big part of the reason I am sending her to a trainer. He will have her for three months s...

She responds to light stimulation positively when I do have to use it and complies immediately. I may have given the wrong impression. Most of the time she compl...

Like I said she still tries to test me with and without the collar every once in a while. I think it is because she is strong willed but its not like we dont get along. She is ju...

So if I am considering sending her to a trainer will he help me overcome this? NSTRA Trials and E-collar
Does anyone know if you are allowed to have an e-collar on your dogs during trials? I was thinking about this today. My dog is a very good dog but rather strong willed and despite my every attempt she is starting to become a little collar wise. But more than that sometimes even if she has it on I ha...

My dog will point but how do you teach her to hold point? I was always told that is what woah is for. Once she knows woah means dont move another step then you use it when she points with a check cord until she realized that it also meant the same thing on birds. So what do you use to teach her to b...

There is no way letting a pup point a wing does not instill sight pointing. Most trainers will recommend using a rag or sock or something. That way they dont correlate feathers with sight pointing. POinting very simply is the stalking of prey. Obviously you want to make sure a dog will point so I us...

Does your vet work with unting dogs very much? For a common house dog its okay to do it early because it doesnt matter about how much prey drive they develop, or really how well their muscles develop. However, with a hunting dog it is very important. I would wait until at least he is fully grown and...

When you are saying broke do you mean force broke to retrieve or woah broke. The main thing I want out of my dog right now is for her to be steady on point on birds and wing, and honoring. Stoeger M2000 without question. As someone else said the Stoeger uses the same inertia driven system as the Benelli's do.
