May take a little to get used to it. HHave you tried leaving it on the run mode so it beeps every 5 or 10 seconds. You might not want to listen to it all the time but maybe you could do it till the dog gets used to it.

I only feed dry. Once in the a.m and once in the p.m..If you are feeding a quality food you don't need to add other things. Canned food is not so good for the teeth either.

I have not done helped with it myself but my wife worked at a vet clinic once upon a time. She says you will only have to help do one enema to try to remove bone fragments and you will never give dogs bones again. Quit painful for the dog and not so pleasant for the one giving the enema either.

These guys have some great dogs and they will train for you also if you are interested. I talked to John Koenig at a trial. He has a few setter puppies (a repeat breeding) that are not spoken for. These will be some great dogs out of proven dogs.

Look up Entropion.
Basicly is when the eyelid turns (usually the lower) in and allows the eyelashes to rub the eye. I think that the readness could be a symtom of this.

In case anyone cares I think the UKC is really wanting to get more birddogs registered in their club. They are now recognizing U.F.T.A. Championships and record them on paperwork (pedigrees) etc. I heard at a recent event they were going to try to get other trial associations on board also.

Mine is about the same. She was the High point Dog of the Year last year. 8x amateur Champion. Not much fun to run when he was in heat. Like you said sometimes good sometimes she would be doing her own thing(running like a pig).

Bloody stool is a Parvo symtom but don't know if the water has any thing to do with.
Blastomycosis is carried in stagnant water and earth you are in a hot spot for this.

I guess I haven't seen enough fixed dogs at the trials I go to or the people I hunt with to see the higher percentage of injuries (due to being fixed). The only hunthing dogs I have see with those injuries were intact.

I used to buy Loyall at Orschelin's. After talking to a Nutrena rep he told me about a Locall Nutrena feed dealer to try. I think I save somewhere around 6 to 8 bucks a bag on the Active Adult and they will get whatever I want if I want to switch.

There are also some UFTA trials held up in the Ashland area. They have flushing as well as pointing divisions. I'm sure you will get as many opinions about the best trial organization as there are opinions about the best breed of dog.
