I run shorthairs and love them, but I have considered trying a springer or english cocker as well for all the stubble that I hunt. I think the flusher would have an advantage to the pointing dogs in stubble, thoughts?

I am out on labs because I want a pointing dog, I like setters but dont like pulling burrs out of their hair after hunting, I also dont want to have to shave my dog. So I run shorthairs, and couldnt be happier. Like was said before shorthairs probably arent the best for big water or real cold water,...

Crossed up

Cross breeding has been done and will be done forever. You are just as likely to get a really good dog from this breeding as you are a bad one. The fact is unless one of the parents is super prepotent, there will be very little uniformity in looks, style, and temperament, even more so since you said...

Health is the most important factor in my opinion, no matter how mush ability a dog has if it has health problems it should never be bred; hips, eys, elbows, thyroid, and to many other to list. papers

Even with titled dogs its the dogs that made the papers great not vice versa. I agree that you should breed out of proven dogs, the lack of a title does not always mean that a dog is not a proven dog, that is up to the owner to really evaluate if the dog is worthy of breeding. The best Pointer/GSP/B...

If you dont mind a drive I know where you could find several birds real cheap. 1.00-2.00 Dollar range, just enough for a little feed. Depending on the age of the birds when you got them they may or may not return to your coop.
