I never heard of a picky Lab... I havn't either :D mine will eat anything. Food, socks, paper towels, toys, etc.... Have you tried Nutri-cal? It's what the vet's use. Comes in a tube and is not cheap, but works quickly. You can put it on food or give it plain. I have never seen an animal turn it do...

I know this is a RETRIEVER book for waterfowl dogs but the first dog I FF was a lab and it was reccomeded to me. Since then I have read zillions of others and watched videos and still I feel th...

My vet just cuts each one where we tell him on each pup. He puts 3 stitches in each one. He uses surgical super glue on closing the dew claws. That's what my vet does too, though last time he used the Surgical Glue on the tails of three of them. It was nice and neat No stuture marks at all. One thi...

[Trees and heavy cover make carding pigeons real tough, I know because that is the conditions that I have to train in here in SC. everyday. Mo Why are the pigeons tough to use in cover? I live and train in heavy cover and my biggest problem is crappy quail that won't fly far. The few wild quail hid...

Brenda, Can you snake break with say a corn snake or something a little easier? Think Rick would help me out, if I brought a nice non-venomous snake along? Seems like I read somewhere that you could play a tape of the rattle while training with another snake. It would be more appealing to me anyway....

First show win
Our GSP, Jed, got Winners Dog at a small show this past weekend. It's a small win, but a start! Thanks Brenda (snips) for the great dog. He also got reserve at a pretty big show, no points but still good to me.

Cool photo! Since I am sitting in my comfy chair far far away.... Brenda, Do you ever snake break your dogs? If so, where do you get the snakes? We have a Ton of copperheads and some rattlers here. Two years ago, the assistant manager counted 42 copperheads just driving the roads in June. I know the...

Very sorry to here about the trouble. Hope the others are thriving. I just thought I'd mention, while the docking subject is up, that our vet used a sterile glue instead of sutures and spray on 3 from our last litter. The mom was licking the sutures right out. Seemed to heal with less of a scar than...

Don't the newer underground fences have "run thru" protection? I mean I'm sure a dog could make it any way, but seems like I was reading that if the dog is moving toward the line very quickly the correction will start earlier and be harsher in an attempt to stop them. I was wonderimg though, if thos...

I'll fifth the suggestion to space them apart. puppies have enough trouble focusing when they don't have another puppy to play with. But with two it's sometimes a challenge. Solid kennel dividers
I have been thinking about putting in solid dividers between the kennels. Does anyone else have these? If so what material do you use? I saw some horse stall dividers that might work, but I'm not sure about using wood. Hard to clean & easy to chew. Just planning - the kennels need to expand and I mi...

whipworms
whipworms, my vet informs me, are usually regional. We have them in our area and before switching to Interceptor our dogs repeatedly got them. My neighbors dog died a month ago rather suddenly from them, though the vet says many dogs have them and never show signs or have too much trouble. Not tryin...

Don't forget...while you're taking all the bad stuff away... to give good stuff to do. GSP's are busy busy busy! They need toys and stuff to do when life is a little boring. QCbirddogs. Thanks! What sort of baited water do you use. Maybe it is like what I use during very cold weather when I cannot keep the water thawed. Most dogs will drink when I bring them water 2-3 times a day, but some will not, so I put a little home made broth in the water. I make it without salt ...

What about someone who crates them all day while at work? Acceptable to many....animal abuse to others. What about the guy who feeds the $10 a bag feed... where do you draw the line lisa. Worst of all what about the person who keeps three or more dogs locked in their basement while they are at work....

We are not a shelter. We live on a Hunting & Fishing club where stray dogs quickly make trouble! We live in an area with MANY MANY stray and dumped dogs of all shapes and sizes. Many chase deer, kill quail, raid the pens, and carry disease. I cannot foster them all. The problem is too big. I see may...

Today while one of the members was hunting, one of thier dogs fell over into a siezure. The member said she was dehydrated and gave her lots of water and she is recovering. Interceptor troubles
I treat all our dogs with monthly Interceptor, but recently some of them have had bouts of roundworms despite this protection. Nemex 2 knocks it right out, though. Anyone else had troubles or any ideas as to what could be the trouble?
Hurray!
Congrats! Great job Cody!javascript:emoticon(':D')
