I wanted to put out some quail for my dog but I dont know how if at all the snow affects things. Its about 20 degrees out right now, is this going to affect how the quail fly? How does snow affect scenting conditions?

Where to hunt pheasants with snow cover?
I have never done any pheasant hunting before and I am not sure what types of cover I should be hunting now that winter is here and we have about 8 inches of snow. I know areas where I have seen a lot during deer season but the cover there has became next to nothing since the snow pushed it down.

What are some of the chew toys that you guys use? My dog destroys a raw hide in minutes. He seems to do best with cow hooves but those smell like butt. He doesnt like Kong toys. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Check cords should be 20 ft. You can either buy one or make your own. You can start training come with it some more. You just use "come" and a tug of the checkcord together. You could also start to overlay it with a whistle so that he will come to a whisle. One long blast for "come"

I've kind of neglected this command. My pup is almost 5 and 1/2 months old. I pretty much just worked on here and a version of the whoa command. How do I go about teaching heel? He picks up things very quickly.

I've road hunted for grouse in the UP of Michigan. Thats how I started and that is just how it is done up there. You drive slow, there will be tons of birds on the road eating gravel. You get out, load up, flush the birds and thats it.

i like the idea of the mousetraps as i think that would correct it very fast but will any injury occur? im assuming it wouldnt because you all suggested it but if it can kill a rat might it cut his nose or something? I'll admit, i'm too afraid to stick my finger in one lol

do you need to be letting her catch quail? if she has already shown an interest I would prolly suggest letting here catch a quail and just using the cc to hold her back on point while you flush the bird then let her chase to build drive.

can you be more specific? Is it just strictly for the "upland hunter"? An upland hunter wouldn't necessarily have a dog or be training a dog and the items could be strictly hunting related items.
