I wanted to put out some quail for my dog but I dont know how if at all the snow affects things. Its about 20 degrees out right now, is this going to affect how the quail fly? How does snow affect scenting conditions?

They do go over it briefly in their videos.

What you might want to start doing right now is when your taking them into the field, letting them wear it just so they get used to it and start associating the field with the collar

Where to hunt pheasants with snow cover?

I have never done any pheasant hunting before and I am not sure what types of cover I should be hunting now that winter is here and we have about 8 inches of snow. I know areas where I have seen a lot during deer season but the cover there has became next to nothing since the snow pushed it down.

Check cords should be 20 ft. You can either buy one or make your own. You can start training come with it some more. You just use "come" and a tug of the checkcord together. You could also start to overlay it with a whistle so that he will come to a whisle. One long blast for "come"

I've road hunted for grouse in the UP of Michigan. Thats how I started and that is just how it is done up there. You drive slow, there will be tons of birds on the road eating gravel. You get out, load up, flush the birds and thats it.
