Keep in mind that I have been hunting Pheasants primarily w/my shorthair. Without a doubt we are more succesful (for better or worse) when my dog is not 100%. That is not to say that he doesn't need to throttle it back at times (which is another story) & I don't ever quit working toward the end game...
