When I used Hanna for blood tracking it was never an extensive tracking job. It's just that when you down a deer in some of that tall CRP you could be standing within a couple of feet of the animal and not see it. Otherwise the prairie is wide open. Blackjeephunter, I too had a couple of dogs that loved the kitty tootsie rolls. They viewed the cats as fuzzy candy dispensers. I agree, horse poopie is much better choice for them.

I believe blood tracking is an ethical duty. I and many others have seen many deer unrecovered either due to inconsideration or inability because of the heavy cover, without a dog. I believe this is the final time I will go up to the Canadian border this year to hunt Deer & birds. As I said in the last Hanna post My girlfriend, her daughter and I went north to fill our tags for deer. We tagged out and got in some bird hunting as well. Sportsman's warehouse in Missoula Montana has them in stock for $199 (less one). I would guess that if they are on the shelves in Montana then they may also be stocked in more civilized areas, beyond the frontier.

I heard the same dismal report but I went anyway and chose not to limit out the first day. Day one I got five huns (missed a few more) and day two I got one more after a couple hours in the field. I didn't bother to pursue that covey any further. I was north of Chester.
