I think in your shoes I'd get settled and check out what's available in your new area as far as being able to exercise the pup and do a little training. Better to know before bringing a puppy home than to have it and be looking for solutions to "Now what?" You'll have to know your work hours, travel...

I don't have outside kennels, but I have about 60 years experience working in large boarding/training facilities. Put tops on them. One kennel owner came out to find his pointer missing, and eventually found her up in the rafters above the indoor kennels. If she had been outside, she would have been...

The basic things he need to know as a bird dog are to go with you (heel) come to you (recall) and stand still (whoa). I've always worked on all three together in the beginning with a puppy, making them into a game. Usually the pup is better or worse with one of them, then that one gets more attentio...

I don't have pointers myself but I have friends who do...and they keep them in the house with no more issues than any other dog. Most of these folks have more than one pointer living with them. I don't usually jump in on "feed this, not that" conversations usually what ever works is fine, but I would think twice about TOTW. Mike, Welcome and congrats on the new pup. Feeding your pup can depend on several factors. There's a big difference between a nine week old puppy and a six month old. Where is your dog going to be housed? Does the pup tend to burn calories as fast as he consumes them, or is he an easy keeper? IME li...

If he's doing well on that formula, just feed less once a day. If he gets trouble with bile with his stomach empty for 24 hours, use part of the daily ration at the 12 hour mark; just a handful will do. I've found it easier on the dogs to cut back gradually so they're at the proper amount in about 1...

I would guess that the boot rubbed and irritated the toes.
