A book not in print now but very good is by Deane Harris, "Training the Ultimate Bird Dog". If you locate a copy you will be glad to get it. This is his web site, and you might like the breeding of his dogs. http://www.wingsweptllewellins.com/

Re: Hello , an intro and a question about King Llwellin Setters

One great looking pup! I had a Lew that was Kings breeding on the bottom and Williams Chapman on the top. He was one bird crazy dog. As a pup he would chase the crap birds for ever. He even pointed them on the power lines. He worked well for me and was with me everyday at work. Easy to train also. H...

The person I talked to, used f-1 (first generation offspring) for the mature and chicks. He released them for recovery of quail in the area. A 12% carry over is pretty good even for wild quail. he worked closley with Tall Timbers research center here in florida. Thay have some good information about...

F1 Quail

i have spoke with a man raising F1 quail. He told me that he puts a adult F1hen with his chicks from the start. Grown in flight pens with little human contact. They are getting around 12% carry over to the next year.
Has anyone here done this?

Okvet03,
Do you know why in Canada heartworm preventive can be bought over the counter but here in the USA it can not. My vet told me that if a dog tested positive for heartworm he keeps them on the preventive. It does not make sence.

Brady came to us by way of a statement made around a campfire that we would like a red whippet to match our greyhound. I would think that a butterfly net or pole crab net would work to catch the birds. We used a pole crab net at a pet store I worked at to catch the birds that got loose.

Back yard training

I have a fenced yard yard that I let my pup stay in. We yard train and play out there. The one side is lined with old cedar trees and a large oak. The cedars are trimmed of the lower branches up to about 10 feet. This allows a very good view of the inside of the tree limbs. My pup spends hours point...

Re: pictures and avatar

you need a photo editor program , use it to resize the desired photo to a maximine width of 210 pixels, height: 210 pixels, file size: 292.97 KiB.

I have found that if I make photo 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches or smaller and a resolution of 72 it works fine.

I believe that Snipe are the only shore bird that are legal to hunt. There is a season on them and many in Texas hunt them. Check out http://thesnipehuntersforum.yuku.com/ if you want to talk snipe.

My post was not about your photo, I was explaining why I posted a close up of a dead bird. I did not look at your thread as I had participated in it.

By the way, my next snipe cooking will be an experiment with Caribbean Jerk spices. I hope to give a report on the results afterwords.
