Ray,
Thanks for answering my question about Bear Creek Bess. Sound's like she was bred right to run. I've enjoyed seeing so many opinions on the subject. thanks to all.

Ross, My cousin has judged Strut a few times. I asked him last year what he thought about the dog. He said, he's not a big dog, but he's got a big heart. He's a bird dog. A dang nice bird dog. I can't remember all the things he told me about him, but I do remember those comments about him. I'm not s...

I hate to change the subject some, but has anyone ever heard of a bitch named Bear Creek Bess? I had a couple fellows a few years back said that she would scorch the prarie. Powerpoint, Do you have a pedigree that I can look at on the white dog you have for sale? I know he's got Island Grove Brute, etc, but would like to look at his pedigree if you have one available. Thanks. I have a buddy who told me he wanted a pointer pup, but this dog might be just right for him.

True, bird dog people will always find a way to buy a bird dog or bird dog pup. Romeo, I think that's the problem. A ton of people have lost their jobs. Unemployment Rate is trending higher right now. People are steadily getting laid off from work. The economy is tough right now. No doubt about it. I just saw where we have officially been in a recession now since Dec. of 2007. So, about one year now we've been in it. I don't doubt a bit that it's getting tougher to sell dogs or pups.

I also use the blue plastic 55 gal. drums. I build a frame up around it and put a piece of plywood on top of it. The dogs love laying on top of it. Karen, http://www.offa.org/hipgrade.html It lists the OFA hip grades. Am i missing something? Marginal is right below Fair. I still stand by my belief. I think your odds are better at getting good hips in a pup if the sire and dam's past generations are good or excellent. Why breed to a marginal or ...

Re: opinions of ofa and penn hip?
Miss Bella, A lot of English Pointer and English Setter breeders don't OFA their dogs. I guess they figure if a dog can run a 3 hour endurance stake, he's got to have decent hips. If a dog has weak hips, he'll probably get weeded out pretty quick in these kind of stakes. As far as German Shorthairs ...

I run in NSTRA. Why? Pretty simple really. I enjoy it. I like competition. I like working with bird dogs. My reason for running in NSTRA has nothing to do with shooting a bird. I could care less about shooting a pen raised bird. I'd rather not, to be honest. I'm not sure if it's a field trial or not...

Thanks. I had thought about buying a tracking unit. I was kind of hoping the new Garmin DC 30 would be approved for field trials. That way, I could buy one unit for both hunting and I could use it if I decided to run a dog in a trial too. It sounds like a really neat product.

Oh, yeah, what makes a dog worth $5000 or a puppy worth $1000. I'd have to just say supply/demand.
