Re: Cant get out of my own way

I was at the trainers yesterday picking up my dog. Wanted to see what the e collar feels like so took it off of my dog and held it to my neck. Had the trainer shock the collar. Couldn’t feel anything and he kept working the intensity up until we got to like 4 or 5 before realizing he was hitting th...

Re: Got a New Pup

You can't do that with your pup at just 19 weeks! You should let it run and then let it run some more. Let it chase stuff, develop her independence, chase deer and rabbits and butterflies, and she shouldn't come back to you unless SHE wants to, if she even does come back. You should have to go get ...

Seems your "No" is not working. Without consequences that would be normal. Like a kid who has never been spanked. I find something that does work. A pup jumping on you and biting is normal solicitation of play behavior and not necessarily an indication of trying to be Alpha at this stage of its deve...

Good advice already given. A pup that age tires quickly. I run my pups in places where they can go considerable distances in numerous directions without being in unreasonable danger. Re: Signs your dog is over worked?

Excessive rapid panting is a key one. When it is hot out I work my dogs in areas with ponds they can jump into. Honey packets do nothing for heat exhaustion, or worse heat stroke. Only cooling the dog off addresses that.

Avoiding it in the first place is what you want to do.

That litter was all sold out before they were born. The Breeder is a good one. He uses a lot of genetics/dogs from my Dog's breeder and has for years. Brian Glock, I responded to your specific question as to PP vs GWPs. Does not seem anyone else has. Yes, I think you are likely to find a GWP that will have more endurance than what you described if you look at the right GWP breeders and litters. The Breeder of the dog in this video clip lives in Oregon and a key yardstick in the dogs he uses for breeding is how they perform on Chukars in the very...

11 weeks is very young. What you are seeing can easily change quickly as the pup develops. Assuming your pup's genetics are from dogs with good search odds are yours will too. I doubt you have anything to be concerned about and advise you to keep taking the puppy on walks as you are currently and le...

WPGs far too often have very poor coats. Soft, long, open, a nightmare to pick up burrs. Breeders of WPG commonly acknowledge and discuss this known deficiency. They are often a slow and close working dog. Many are very lackluster in their pointing style. They are a very square built dog and their c...

WPG have coats that is a very poor choice of breed for hunting quail in Central Florida. They do not handle heat well at all. Hearing that, I think you should get a well bred Vizsla as they lack nothing in the way of energy in the right lines and you already like their temperaments. Your current Viz...
