south dakota trainers?
have been snoopin around the site a while now and have grown tired of looking so ill just post what im lookin for in stead.... i have a young viz pup, too young to start really training too much, however when the time comes i would like to use a trainer....any one know of good trainers in or near ea...

was reading this post and wondering if one should be worried about ticks....i too have a very young pup and plenty of farm land to let her explore...i havnt taken her there yet bc she hasnt had more than one round of shots and no tick protection? should i not be so concerned and let her get out ther...

ya i havnt really been expecting anything from her yet...i was just curious is all. this is my first pup....ironically she was just in the back yard five min ago pointing at a few bugs on the patio...they didnt last very long but ill take it for now! hope to get her exposed to birds before too long....

at what age do they point?
as the title sugests, at what age did your puppy start pointing.....i have an 8 week old viz. havnt seen her point yet however i have only had her for about five days now. not too worried but more curious i guess.

right....i agree with what your saying about FFing...just not looking forward to throwin the money down to have it done since i am first time dog owner and understand how its done but have NO experience, seems like FFing is more complex than sit stay come, or maybe im just a wuss ha.....i had labs g...

thanks for all the help...very good advice and words of wisdom..i really like the last post..very interactive and makes training sound fun..i guess ill just have to wait and see what kind of dog i get...actually train the dog i see and not the dog i want to see.

FF with vizslas
what do yall think....my neighbor/friend has a 8 mo old vizssla...he isnt sure if Force fetch training is a good idea for the vizslas sensitive personality...any ideas or suggestions..maybe experiences with FF and vizslas...any help would be great thanks! cheers.

i have heard nothing but good things about them. definately an option, the distance does make a bit of a difference but does not take them out of the race so to speak.

thanks alot for the imput. i dont duck hunt much at all so cold water wouldnt be much of an issue for me. perhaps male v's could handle cold better since they are a bit bigger? i have a few good breeders in mind that have great pedigrees and def did my homework in order to stay away from show lines....

for many years now i have only hunted with labs here in SD, they do great dont get me wrong, however,i was wondering if any south dakota hunters out there hunt over vizsla's and what you think about them. would also love input on where got yours from and what you think of your purchase. been hunting...
