You HAVE to establish which one is the insigator. Watch them closely, they will tell you whch one gives the first "look"...ThenTHAT is the one you go for. And give him something to remember. bhulisa... over here in Australia our 'utility' (HPR) dogs are run as a brace after a draw, they are run on Stubble quail , hares and rabbits if present, and occasionally on released birds (no championship points awarded tho). the handler also shoots. the dogs are expected to be steady to flush/shot...

mines right next to my quail pen......no problem . they hassle them a bit but no excuse for not knowing what a quail smells like i have some corrugated iron up about 3' around the bottom of the quail pen, amazing how far a shorthair can stretch his neck to peer over the edge.

i'll add to the general consensus this The friends who keep there dogs kenneled up say that they can not be pets and hunters is BS. my dogs are kenneled outside but are house trained, a visit inside is a privilege not a right ,having said that they are very much pets as well as accomplished gundogs.
